EAST WENATCHEE Douglas County Public Utility District Commissioner Lynn Heminger has announced he will not seek re-election next year.
“It has been an honor and privilege to serve the people of Douglas County as a PUD commissioner for nearly 23 years at this point. When my current term expires in a little over a year, it will be time to let someone else lead the district in a conservative, consistent manner,” he said.
In other business at Monday’s meeting, commissioners approved a three-year, $110,000 contract with ecologist Tracy Hillman, of Redmond-based BioAnalysts Inc. He will serve as chairman of the Wells Habitat Conservation Plan Tributary Committee.
The tributary committee decides which restoration projects to fund along the Columbia River, from Wells Dam to Chief Joseph Dam and the tributaries in between, including the Okanogan and Methow basins.
Utility commissioners will next meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the district’s headquarters, 1151 Valley Mall Parkway.
