PLAIN Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest fire specialists will start spring burning this month with a 200-acre treatment in Beaver Valley, near Lake Wenatchee.
Burning, to reduce the potential for wild fire, will continue as long as conditions allow.
Burning objectives also include enhancing forest health, improving wildlife habitat and native vegetation restoration, officials said.
Prescribed fires are part of the comprehensive Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest restoration strategy.
Officials said burns are also under way or planned in the Entiat, Twisp and Winthrop areas.
