OMAK A local man was treated last Friday at Mid-Valley Hospital for a gunshot wound to the leg after a pistol went off in his vehicle.
The 26-year-old man apparently had the gun in a holster on the passenger seat but worried that he might be required to have it on his person, so he moved it onto his lap as he drove along Main Street, according to an Omak Police Department report.
The man was not identified by police because the case remains under investigation, Sgt. Jeff Koplin said.
Koplin, reading from an officer’s report, said the gun apparently started to fall and the man heard a bang and felt pain in one leg. He drove himself to the hospital for treatment.
Koplin said he doesn’t anticipate any charges will be filed.
