WINTHROP With more sunshine this week, the Methow Valley Ranger District is making progress on spring prescribed burning treatments.
Today, the district planned to burn on 34 acres in the Lucky 2 unit, located in the Fawn Creek area near Eidelweiss. Whether burning happens depends on wind and other weather factors.
“We completed the Flatmoon Complex this afternoon in the Eightmile Creek drainage, about 12-14 miles northwest of Winthrop,” Assistant Fire Management Officer Meg Trebon said yesterday. “We had fairly steady southeasterly winds that mixed smoke well during the burn period.”
This weekend, the district might burn in Deer Creek in the Twisp River drainage, about 10-12 miles south of Twisp, and again in the Lucky 2 area to complete whatever isn’t finished today.
