EAST WENATCHEE The White Swan girls basketball team proved too strong inside in a 67-35 win over Oroville in the consolation championship of the District 5/6 tournament Saturday.
The Cougars were led by 6-0 Emily Botkin (18 points) and 5-11 Cayla Jones (13 points) inside.
“We had no answer to their big people,” Oroville coach Mike Bourn said.
White Swan led 30-15 at the half.
Bourn told his team in the lockerroom during the breather that a couple 3-pointers and some defensive stops and the Hornets would have the lead cut down to single digits.
Instead, the Cougars won the third quarter, 22-10, aided in part by many Oroville turnovers.
Lily Hilderbrand, who played the majority of the game, led the Hornets with xx points.
